Channelling Art Deco style and a speakeasy vibe, the 98-cover Midtown Grill is a contemporary take on old-world glamour.

Deep green walls set the tone, complemented by rust-red upholstery and swathes of warm wood. Guests are greeted in an intimate bar area, where a large illuminated refrigerator showcases an impressive selection of prime meat cuts, giving the diner a hint of what’s to come.

At the heart of our portfolio is the Ghent Marriott, a true beacon of hospitality in the historic city centre. Located along the scenic Leie River, within the medieval harbour, the Ghent Marriott boasts 150 luxurious bedrooms, 9 versatile meeting and event spaces, a renowned restaurant, and a beautiful terrace overlooking the canal. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Executive Chef to join our team and provide an exceptional experience to our guests.

A day in the life of…

As Head Chef you will be responsible for overseeing and developing smooth operations of a busy kitchen, with emphasis on quality and presentation and maximising every opportunity to ensure profit and cost margins are met and consistently kept in line with budget.

You will be doing the Menu planning, cost and budget controlling to ensure food cost is achieved. Finally, recruitment, training, and development of the team is important to ensure we deliver exceptional service whilst maintaining strict controls of food safety/health & safety to ensure statutory compliance.

To be successful in this role, you will be passionate about providing an exceptional guest experience and living through our brand standards. Experience operating as a head chef or senior sous in a branded or hotel kitchen environment is essential.

What do we need from you?

  • Extensive culinary experience with a proven track record of creating high-quality dishes.
  • Menu development and food costing skills: You should be able to create innovative and appealing menus while also understanding food costs and profitability.
  • Leadership and team management: As a leader in our this amazing restaurant and kitchen, the you should be able to motivate and manage a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff effectively.
  • Creativity and passion for food: You should be creative, passionate about food, and always looking for ways to improve and innovate in the kitchen.
  • Strong communication skills: The head chef needs to communicate effectively with the kitchen staff, management, and suppliers to ensure smooth operations.
