Assistant GM

Quality Seekers is looking for an Assistant General Manager for one of its clients. This for a hotel tactically located in the center of Brussels which attracts mostly business guests. On weekends, of course, there is also an influx of tourists who want to explore the city.
The hotel is room-oriented and has approximately 100 rooms for 2 or 4 people. The efficient room design, also makes the rooms very suitable for the long-stay segment.
In terms of decor, the rooms can be described as warm, modern and accessible. Not too stiff here! Next to the reception, there is a lobby and space for multipurpose use, which is partly used for breakfast, but also serves as a common space for guest to work or organise a small-scale event.
The structure is compact and the total team numbers just under 10 people. Also because of the small scale, there is a nice, family atmosphere among the team. Housekeeping is outsourced.
The GM of the hotel has responsibility for several hotels, so we are looking for a strong assistant who can run the day to day operations in this hotel quite independently.

In this job, you will take care of the day-to-day running of the hotel. The range of duties can be divided into the following areas:

  • Operational
    directing the daily operations in the hotel
    intervening where necessary
    follow up on procedures and regulations
    control and communication with external housekeeping
    purchase and stock management
  • Team management
    recruitment and training of the team
    evaluation of employees
    establishment of personal objectives for the employees
    organization of team meetings
    maintaining the friendly, family atmosphere within the team
    scheduling, planning and task distribution
  • Guests
    ensuring optimal guest satisfaction and service
    acting as host or hostess - welcoming guests
    following up on reviews and possible complaints
    maintaining commercial contacts with local companies
  • Results
    contributing to the profitability of the hotel
    following up on P&L and monitoring budgets
    contributing to the annual budget preparation
    follow-up of revenue management, in consultation with head office
    participating in commercial activities, sales blitzes, networking events, ...

Profiel

For this position we are looking for a candidate with experience in the hotel industry, preferably within Rooms. You are currently working at least at HOD level, for example as Front Office Manager or M&E / Sales Manager and you are ready for the next step.
Furthermore, you can find yourself in the following:

  • you are a real people manager
  • you like to use an open communication style
  • driven, dynamic and ambitious
  • reliable and independent
  • guest-oriented and commercial feeling
  • hands-on and flexible attitude fluent knowledge of the various hotel systems
  • French and English speaking - knowledge of Dutch and Spanish is a plus
